Standing on Frack Free Ground

Standing on Frack Free Ground is a new oil on linen.  It represents my concern for the environment and the health of the wildlife in the area. I’ve been fortunate to have grown up spending summers in the Allegheny mountains  in Lycoming County and I’ve watched the many changes that have taken place from fracking throughout the area.  There’s never been full disclosure on what exactly is being forced into the ground to break up the Marcellus Shale.  What exactly is in this liquid and how do we really know it won’t harm the wild life, fish/water quality and human existence?  We’ve turned down the opportunity to make money by leasing our minerals rights to fracking on our land.  I don’t think the short term opportunity for people to make money is worth the risk of damaging these pristine forest lands and waterways.  Standing on Frack Free Ground is my subtle response to anti-fracking.  What good will it do?  I don’t know.  Maybe nothing, or maybe it will lead to other people realizing that putting nature and humanity at risk for monetary profit is really no profit at all.

New Work

Between Two Boulders

“Between Two Boulders” was painted in the mountains in English Center, Pennsylvania.
It was a bit challenging working on a 20″x20″ panel and finishing this painting in one afternoon. There’s a few things I may be touching up, but I kinda like it the way it is.

Also I’m happy to be exhibiting paintings at the new restaurant JUNTO located in Chadds Ford PA. http://www.juntobyob.com/

WHAT'S NEW

Thos. Moser presents 2014 Contemporary Works by ASSEMBLAGE ARTISTS COLLECTIVE

On display in our Philadelphia showroom is a collection of contemporary artwork from seventeen Philadelphia artists. Our show will be showing from January 25th thru March 30th.

In 1985 a group of women, all recent graduates of the art school, began meeting monthly to share a dialogue about art, share news of interest in the arts and to discuss one another’s work.

The roster has evolved over time, but this commitment to art and to one another has remained impressively stable; a testament to the mutual respect, and strong, meaningful connections formed over the years. While maintaining their own very active and accomplished careers as individual, these women have been exhibiting collectively since 1991. Now approaching thirty years since that first meeting, all members are seasoned professionals who continue to exhibit individually and as a group.

Assemblage Member Artist: Rosalind Bloom, Zola Bryen, Wanda Chudzinski, Leslie Eadeh, Susan Hader-Golden, Kathe Chapman Grinstead, Lauren Litwa Holden, Sheila Letven, Helen Mirkil, Lesley Mitchell, Elaine C. Nettis, Brigitte Rutenberg, Charlotte A. Schatz, Eleanor Schimmel, Marion Spirn, Pam Taggart, Carol Wisker.
